Foster Care Services

The Thompson Foster Care team identifies and develops strong supportive families who provide long term and respite care for children re-entering community life. Thompson operates private foster care programs in North Carolina.

Program highlights:

  • Homes located throughout the Charlotte- Metro region.
  • Short-term, long-term, and respite care for children birth to 18 years in safe, loving, and nurturing homes.
  • Specialized, therapeutic, and attachment certified placements.
  • 24/7 on-call assistance and support from Thompson’s Foster Care team.
  • Crisis intervention, in-home, and in-school supports.

Types of Foster Care:

  • Specialized: For children best able to maintain positive community placements as they move toward adoption.
  • Therapeutic: For children that require more intensive supports as they move toward stronger community interactions.
  • Attachment: For children in need of foster homes with additional and specialized training in trauma and attachment disorders.
  • Respite: For children and families in need of immediate or planned support and “time away.” (Available overnight and hourly.)
