Early Childhood Outreach
Unfortunately, high-risk factors go well beyond the 150 children and families that are served each year at the Thompson Child Development Center. Using the Center as a best-practices model, the Thompson Early Childhood Outreach Program mentors more than 100 early childhood centers in Mecklenburg, Union and Cabarrus counties in North Carolina.
Thompson partners with other child-care providers in three areas:
1) program quality improvement,
2) inclusion of children with special needs, and
3) family education and engagement.
Thompson helps these other centers assess their programmatic strengths and weaknesses. We also provide individualized technical assistance, hands-on consultation, and on-site support. Outreach strategies are designed to help centers earn more licensing stars and/or be successful in applying for national accreditation, thereby raising the bar for each child served.
Thompson strengthens the childcare initiative experience, overall programmatic credibility, daily operational immersion, staff commitment and, most importantly, the passion to improve child development. The result is promising for every child reached.
