Volunteer Opportunities:
Saint Peter's Lane Campus (6800 Saint Peter's Lane Matthews NC 28105)
- Front Desk Relief - Adults are needed to greet visitors, answer telephones and complete simple office projects. Training will be provided. Ideal volunteers will customer service skills and telephone experience. Volunteers are needed for one hour lunch relief shifts from 12-1 p.m. and on-call basis on weekdays. A full volunteer screening with criminal background check is required.
7th Street Campus (2200 East Seventh Street Charlotte 28204)
- Clinical Child Care Watch - Outgoing and energetic adults are needed to monitor and play with individual or small groups of children while parents meet with therapists. Volunteers are needed Mondays 4-6 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Tuesdays 9 a.m. -Noon and Wednesdays 3to 5 p.m. Volunteers are expected to give one shift a week or every other week. A full volunteer screening with reference and criminal background check is required. Volunteers should have experience working with children.
- Parent Education Child Watch - Friendly and caring adults are needed to monitor and play with small groups of children while parents attend classes. Volunteers should have experience working with children. Volunteers are needed on Mondays 4-6 p.m. until June 4. A full volunteer screening with reference and criminal background check is required.
Thompson Child Development Center (1645 Clanton Road, Charlotte NC 28208)
- Enrichment Instructors - Volunteers with special skills - yoga, dance, drama, music, movement - are needed to teach classes. Monday-Friday, either 9-11 a.m. or 3:30-5 p.m.
- Front Desk Relief - Adults are needed to greet visitors and answer telephones. Training provided. Volunteers are needed 12-2 p.m. Monday-Friday.
- Nap Time Monitors - Caring adults are needed to monitor children while napping, read to class, escort children to restroom, soothe children back to sleep and more. Volunteers are needed weekdays 12 to 2:30 p.m. Extensive screening is required by early childhood regulation.

Groups
- Collection Drive Leaders: Organize your office, church, neighborhood or school and collect birthday presents and needed items for the children and low income families of Thompson. Please check our website or contact Rachel Eldridge at reldridge@thompsoncff.org. Kick off your drive with a presentation by our staff or wrap it up by delivering your items to our campus and receive a tour.
- Landscaping and Maintenance: We have projects at all of our sites. Tasks range from the simple (raking) to the more complex (planting and building). We especially appreciate volunteers who can contribute materials such as plants and lumber. Projects can be scheduled on weekdays or weekends.
- Social Activities with Children: Groups of Adults are welcome to plan and host social activities with the residential children on our campus. Possible activities could include arts and crafts, game days, and carnivals. Lunch and snacks can be included. Events should be scheduled on weekends or possibly on weekday afternoons.
