Vice President of Learning and Development Sara Nilsson joined Thompson in August 2018. Sara oversees everything related to training and staff development, with the overarching focus of driving a culture of learning and development within the organization. Sara earned her Bachelors and Master of Social Work from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Sara has always worked with children and adolescents with a focus on treating complex trauma, and prior to joining Thompson, worked as a licensed clinician in various settings – inpatient hospitals, residential, and outpatient. Sarah’s ‘why’ derives from her background as a trauma survivor and the mentorship she received from someone close to her, an experience that was instrumental in her healing and learning to become resilient. Sara is enthusiastic about advocating for system changes so that clients can establish improved access to care, quality of care, and overall outcomes from the services we provide.
