Jamal Ward

Operations Director Jamal Ward joined Thompson in December 2022. He oversees the Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF) and Enhanced Residential Treatment Center (ERTC) at our Matthews campus. Prior to Thompson, Jamal worked within the helping profession as an educator, clinician, and leader for over 13 years. Jamal earned his Bachelor’s in Psychology from Baker College and Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Concordia University of Chicago.

Jamal has a strong passion to foster growth in others. From clinicians – helping them to understand “big picture” on a micro level; to leaders – challenging them to think outside the box while assisting in the development of abstract reasoning skills as this promotes both better work performance and leadership effectiveness.
