Gayle loves listening to music and hanging out with her friends. She has had a tough time throughout high school, she has been in care since 2017. Gayle experienced multiple disruptions, moving from multiple foster homes, group homes, & family members. This instability led to difficulties at school and Gayle also experimented with smoking marijuana and other substance abuse. Things became so bad that she was unable to graduate with her peers.
Gayle’s path led her to Thompson’s Case Management team in Florida. This was a turning point for her. The team worked with her foster family to ensure a stable placement; they also supported Gayle in finding and enrolling into an educational program where she could complete her Florida GED. She found employment and began mental health treatment to address the trauma she has encountered.
