Friends of the Children – Charlotte help bring positive changes to Jaxson and his family

Jaxson loves being active, especially playing frisbee, soccer, and Fortnite. At school, he is performing at grade level but not reaching his full potential…he is easily distracted and often disrupts the class with emotional outbursts. This disruptive behavior also continues at home where he bullies his siblings and acts out if he can’t get his own way. He struggles maintaining positive relationships and friendships as a result. Jaxson lives primarily with his mom and two siblings but does occasionally stay over with his dad. His relationship with his mother is often strained due to his outbursts.

Jaxson has been part of our Friends of the Children- Charlotte program for four years. His mentor works with him to managing emotions and develop appropriate outlets for his anger. He has also organized therapy for Jaxson to work deeper in these areas. Jaxson’s mom has also worked closely with his mentor to improve her relationship with Jaxson and to address his thumb sucking and hair chewing, which has now completely stopped. This team approach has seen Jaxson improving his communication skills and starting to build better relationships with the people around him.

‘I am so grateful for the commitment this program has shown to my son and I…we are seeing positive improvements each week.’ ~ Jaxson’s mom
