Olivia repairs relationship with her mother

Olivia’s background was beyond traumatic with episodes of aggression, self-harm, suicide attempts and running away. She has been through outpatient therapy, hospitalization, foster care and involved in the juvenile justice system. Her relationship with her mother had become strained, and when she arrived at Thompson her mother was hesitant to continue the relationship.

When admitted to the Adira Program at Thompson, Olivia was violent and aggressive, had difficulty connecting with others, was withdrawn, and struggled to engage in the program. In the months since, she engaged in treatment, opened up about past memories & experiences, and learnt to self-regulate and manage her intense feelings. Most importantly, she’s repairing her relationship with her mother and empathy, compassion and patience have replaced her anger and fear.
