Family Centered Treatment helped Tristan to continue living at home

Family Centered Treatment helped Tristan to continue living at home

Tristan has the biggest heart. He can be bubbly, fun, and likes to be his own type of stand up comedian. Tristan is the oldest of five siblings, living at home with his mom. He has witnessed domestic violence between his mom and her partners. He struggles with depression, has diagnoses of Disruptive Mood Dysregulation Disorder, Autism, and ADHD, and has experienced suicidal thoughts. After not taking his medication and a difficult day at school, Tristan had an aggressive outburst at home that ended up with him in the emergency room and psychiatric hospitalization.

Upon discharge, Behavioral Health referred Tristan to our Family Centered Treatment (FCT) program. Initially, Tristan’s mom felt hopeless as previous therapy hadn’t worked. Our FCT therapists worked with the entire family to improve communication and address past trauma and emotions. This helped them build trust and strengthen their relationship. Since completing the program, they have been able to positively work through difficulties, and see an improvement in family functioning, especially in Tristan’s relationship with his mom and sister.

‘We really did not think Tristan would be able to continue living with our family. We are so grateful to this program!’ ~ Tristan’s mom
