The Wraparound team supports Brian and Leon to build skills and advocate for themselves

[vc_column_textBrian and Leon connected over their joint love of video games. The boys met at the children’s home where they have both been residents for the last year. Brian was originally supposed to reunify with his grandmother until she decided she no longer wanted to proceed with the process. Leon came into DSS care due to neglect and parental substance abuse at home. When they first arrived both boys were angry and uninterested and failing at school. Their similar backgrounds and interest drew them together as natural support for each other.

Thompson’s High Fidelity Wraparound team supports youth at their children’s home, and worked with Brian and Leon to process their past trauma and move forward building self-advocacy skills and identifying personal goals. Both boys have improved their behavior, engaged in clinical services, and improved their school performance and were promoted to the next grade. They continue to work to build their skills and expand their natural support network. Brian is also wrestling for the high school this year. Both are also in the final steps of the adoption process with their house parent.
