    Willian loves to learn

    Willian loves to learn

Willian loves learning, and is constantly looking for opportunities for academic stimulation. When schools moved to virtual learning in the Spring, the shorter hours of educational contact were not always enough, and he is too young to be able to fulfil this desire for learning independently. He lives with his mother and two younger siblings, and his mom couldn’t always find the time to meet his educational demands. Willian is part of the Friends of the Children – Charlotte program.

As a child in the Friends of the Children – Charlotte program, the weekly contact and engagement with his mentor helped. When school started back virtually in the Fall, and a learning pod was established, Willian’s desire for learning was fulfilled by all the additional support and educational activities provided. The interaction with some of the other youth in the program, closer to his own age, also fulfilled much needed social support.
