Family Centered Treatment helped Erin’s family come together and grow stronger

Erin loves art and animals and is interested in becoming a vet or vet technician. She has a traumatic history that includes physical, emotional, and sexual abuse by her biological parents. She entered foster care at an early age and experienced several placements until being adopted 3 years ago. She recently became isolated and depressed with issues of defiance and aggression, inappropriate sexual behaviors at home and on the internet, anti-social behavior, poor academic performance, and a concerning level of unawareness of these behaviors.

The family was referred to Family Centered Treatment (FCT) to not only help Erin but also help the rest of the family. Since starting, communication has improved among family members, conflicts have reduced. They now feel closer as a family. Erin was able to complete 11th grade successfully and is more respectful of boundaries and rules imposed by her parents. Erin is no longer exhibiting symptoms of depression, now has a job, and is participating on the school dance team.

‘We felt lost and that we were failing, FCT helped our family come together and grow stronger, The best part is Erin finally feels safe.’ ~ Erin’s parents
