Anton’s Friends of the Children ‘Friend’ is there to support him – no matter what!

Anton loves playing sports, especially basketball. When is is not outside playing sports, he enjoys playing video games. Anton has struggled both academically and emotionally this school year – he has had difficulties keeping up with school work, following instructions from the teacher, as well as managing his behaviors and getting along with his peers. Anton is naturally shy, but once he is comfortable he is usually very sociable. He is full of energy and very smart, he is frustrated by his academic struggles this year.

Anton is part of our Friends of the Children – Charlotte program, and his mentor is working with him to improve his self-confidence with the goal of overcoming his shyness and improve his social skills and relationships with peers. They are also working on his academic and focus skills, incorporating fun activities and rewards into his learning journey to help improve his ability to follow instructions and keep up at school. Anton’s Friend is also looking forward to being able to offer classroom support as schools open up to outside visitors as this will have a huge impact on Anton’s progress.

‘Having a consistent, male role model during this time of struggle has been a huge support to Anton’ – Anton’s mom.
