Friends of the Children provides Jax with the support he needs to excel

Jax is a confident child, he loves, and usually excels at most sports, especially football. Perseverance is one of his best skills and as a result he is an accomplished athlete and scholar. He was recently invited to join the National Elementary School Honor Society for his academic excellence. Jax is caring and always looks out for his siblings. However, he has had some struggles controlling his emotions in the classroom, and has been in trouble for fighting with peers. If this behavior continues he could lose his Honor Society place.

Jax is part of the Friends of the Children – Charlotte program, and his Friend was quick to step in to help Jax identify the triggers of his behavior. They worked on improving his self-management skills and talked through the merits of alternative ways he can respond. The 2-generational approach strengthened the family dynamics at home, providing even more support for Jax and his siblings. As a result, Jax retained his place on the Elementary School Honor Society and continues to excel at school.

‘Seeing Jax use the skills and support we provide to excel and grow is has been so fulfilling!’ ~ Jax’s Friend
