Maintenance Worker:  St. Peter’s Ln. Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has an opening for a Maintenance Worker to assist in the daily implementation of the Thompson Maintenance Plan. Duties include janitorial, landscaping, plumbing, and general indoor/outdoor maintenance. Must be able to lift 75+lbs on a consistent basis. Case Management Specialist:  St. Peter’s Ln. Campus – Matthews, NC

The Case Management Specialist is responsible for assisting clients in gaining access to necessary care: medical, behavioral, social, and other services appropriate to their needs.  The Targeted Case Management Specialist should ensure that the services provided are individualized, person centered, empowering, comprehensive, strengths-based, and outcome focused.  The functions of this role include case management, care coordination, person centered planning, utilization management, referral/linkage, transition planning, and monitoring/follow-up.

Job Duties:

• In partnership with the client, family, primary care giver, friends, and providers that have a lengthy experience with the client, the Case Management Specialist will monitor the Person-Centered Plan.
• Refer and link the client with medical, behavioral, social and other programs, services, and supports to address identified needs and achieve goals specified in the Person-Centered Plan.
• Exhibit the knowledge of the importance of ethical behavior, the potential impact of unethical behavior on the client, and the potential consequences of violating ethical behavior.
• Ensure care coordination is timely, meets the needs of the client and agency, and is documented appropriately.
• Have a working knowledge and training in confidentiality regulations.
• Have a working knowledge of required performance standards and case management best practices.
• Attend other in-service training as required.
• Completes required documentation training (i.e. KaleidaCare, NCTOPPS, service notes, Person Centered Plans, etc. as required).
• Adhere to all Thompson Child & Family Focus policies and procedures.
• Attend all required training/certifications and must stay current on required agency and licensing trainings.

Community & Corporate Engagement Manager:  St. Peter’s Ln. Campus – Matthews, NC

The Community & Corporate Engagement Manager is responsible for engaging the community to further the mission of Thompson by maintaining a quality agency volunteer program, identifying new corporate partners, raising $150,000 – $200,0000 in corporate sponsorship dollars and providing logistical support for agency events.

Community & Corporate Relations:

• Inform and educate individuals, churches, corporations and civic groups about Thompson through ongoing speaking engagements, tours, meetings and presentations
• Identify, research, cultivate and secure partnerships and sponsorship dollars with corporations whose philanthropic mission aligns with the needs and opportunities that Thompson can provide
• Serve as agency representative in various community civic groups as determined with Chief Development Officer
• Conduct and/or oversee scheduling of tours with individuals and groups with regularity

Volunteer & In-Kind Donations:

• Recruit, screen, coordinate, and cultivate individual and group volunteers including: acting as main point of contact for all volunteer related activities, providing appropriate training and placement after screening/background check completion, and working with program leaders to ensure opportunities add value
• Track volunteer hours, data entry, and quarterly reports; updating volunteer handbook; create volunteer policies and procedures as needed; and manage annual volunteer evaluations for agency accreditors
• In partnership with program leaders, field and manage in-kind donations

Event Coordination:

• Manage logistics for events as determined by Chief Development Officer including but not limited to: annual fundraising luncheon, donor cultivation related events, & corporate cultivation related events
• Solicit and secure corporate sponsors and table captains for annual fundraising luncheon
• Coordinate annual volunteer appreciation activities/events

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years non-profit development experience including direct gift solicitation and donor stewardship OR comparable sales related experience. Community relations and/or volunteer management experience helpful. Available for evening and weekend hours as needed. Ability to speak in front of groups of all types and size on behalf of Thompson. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, persuasive, and effective manner. Ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision. Good analytical skills and an above average computer knowledge.

The NC Wraparound Facilitator will engage high-needs youth and their families in developing, implementing, and monitoring an intensive, individualized care plan. This includes helping the team develop a natural support system, working on the development on an integrated plan and establishing a strong relationship with the family. Communications Director:  St. Peter’s Ln. Campus – Matthews, NC

This position will play an integral role in developing strategic communications for all internal staff, donors, community partners, and website to consistently articulate Thompson’s mission and five core values. He/she will ensure Thompson is viewed as the primary source, disseminator, and conduit of information within this diverse network and constituent base.

Primary duties include:

  • Develops, implements and evaluates an integrated, organization-wide strategic communications plan to broaden awareness of Thompson and strengthens its brand identity throughout the communities it serves.
  • Identifies, develops and executes strategies to capitalize on internal and external communication opportunities, working with the Executive Leadership and Expanded Teams.
  • Develops and maintains meaningful relationships with media market contacts that helps promote the organization and to ensure coverage of issues of strategic importance to Thompson’s programs and services.
  • Maintains web site and ensures that new and consistent information (articles, links, stories, and events) is posted weekly.
  • Regularly reviews and makes recommended changes to organization-wide communications plan informed by data analytics.
  • Actively seeks and documents client interactions that illustrate the impact of Thompson services to share in a variety of communications.
  • Works closely with executive & program leaders to understand the needs of each program and the overall organization as it pertains to communications.
  • Provides content copy and assists in the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to, social media, newsletters, brochures, the Thompson website and internal communications.
  • Oversees organizational communications and copy content to ensure alignment with Thompson strategic communications plan.
  • Develops and refines Thompson’s “core” messages to ensure organizational consistency.
  • Oversees organizational response to inquiries about Thompson.
  • Creates content and strategic plan to increase audience engagement on Thompson social media channels.
  • Prepares talking points, speeches, presentations and other supporting material as needed.

Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, or related field required. Excellent writing/editing communication skills. 3+ years of communications experience. Excellent computer skills, including Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, and WordPress and/or HTML, preferred. Experience managing and executing across several social media outlets, website maintenance, and developing and implementing communications strategies. High Fidelity Wraparound Coach:  Wendover Ln. Campus – Charlotte, NC

Thompson is seeking dedicated, strengths and solution-focused human services professional to help lead a team which will impact the lives of youth and families in our community through the High Fidelity Wraparound Program. High Fidelity Wraparound is an evidence based model for youth and families who are experience high levels of challenges in the following areas: behavioral, emotional, socioeconomic, housing, family conflict, etc. High Fidelity Wraparound uses a strengths-based, team approach to intervene with families and embodies the System of Care philosophy in our approach to families. This is a community based service where we meet the families wherever and whenever it has to happen.

As the Wraparound Coach, this position requires high level leadership, integrity, ability to cast and execute a vision and the skill set to develop other professionals around you to become their very best. This position would be the face of Wraparound services at Thompson and therefore this person would be responsible for recruiting, marketing, and passionately educating the community on the benefits of the service. A primary trait will be knowing how to positively collaborate and cultivate effective team work internally, externally with stakeholders and with the families you serve. As the Wraparound coach, this position will supervise a team up to 8 staff; meeting weekly/monthly and as needed to ensure successful implementation and rendering of this service. Leadership and supervisory experience is critical to the functions of this position.

Other Duties Include:
• Oversees program administration, including adherence to contract scope of services requirements.
• Assists in preparation and adherence to program budget.
• Responsible for helping the NC Wraparound Team understand the topics of training and developing an understanding of how to apply what they have learned through the activities and discussions of the curriculum. This includes behavioral rehearsal so the NC Wraparound Team can practice HFW before doing it with youth and families.
• Supports learning for the NC Wraparound Team, works to complete observations of the NC Wraparound Team’s performance, and documents these observations to support continuous improvement of the NC Wraparound Team dynamics.
• Oversees new intakes, referrals and admissions through active relationship building with referral sources and pushing the urgency of census at all times.
• Facilitates trainings and in-services as necessary to ensure quality of care.
• Ensures successful completion of internal and external audits.

Education Requirements: Master’s degree in a human service related field, at least two years of supervisory experience, and a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and families with complex needs required. Must be credentialed as a Qualified Health Professional. LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or other licensure preferred. Must be able to work flexible schedule to meet the needs of the team. Previous experience with supervising and developing other professionals preferred.

Residential Care Specialist – FT & Part-Time: St. Peter’s Lane Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has openings for the Residential Care Specialist positions in two different residential programs. The ideal candidate is able to exhibit a positive, upbeat attitude to encourage youth interaction and understands the cultural diversity of youths, their families and team members. This position teaches and models healthy and safe relationships.

PRTF (Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility): This program provides 24-hour direct care to youths ages 6 – 13 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each youth. Significant events and behavior shall be documented and communicated in daily process notes. This position plans, provides and supervises the daily activities of the youths in the program to build self-esteem and appropriate peer interaction for each youth. This position is responsible for building a safe and positive relationship with each youth using basic principles of reality therapy without punitive approaches while providing engaging, nurturing structure. This individual must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the youth and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. This program does require staff to be able to maintain sufficient physical agility and stamina to intervene with uncooperative youths and must be able to exert the minimum necessary strength to restrain and subdue the youth if necessary.  Staff must be capable of running a distance as required in the prevention of a youth absconding.  For consideration, applicants must be 18 years of age to work in this program.

Thompson Connect: Individuals in this program work with adolescents ages 12 – 17 in a short-term residential program. This position will provide guidance, support and mentoring to adolescent youths including assisting with transitional living skills and daily functioning.  This person must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the adolescents and their collaterals to gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. This position is responsible for teaching and modeling independent living skills as it relates to the adolescent population and for teaching and modeling healthy and safe relationships. For consideration, applicants must be 23 years of age to work in this program.

Positions Available:

  • Residential Care Specialist – Position works in the milieu daily as outlined in the program descriptions above.
  • Part-Time Residential Care Specialist – Position works in the milieu as outlined in the program descriptions above on an as needed basis to help cover ratio needs.
  • Lead Residential Care Specialist – In addition to the tasks mentioned in the program outlines above, Leads shall assist the Program Supervisor in the overseeing of the daily operations of the program, cottage activities and care of clients.  This position will also assist in coordination of care, staffing patterns, and environments that support the treatment philosophy. This position provides support to staff while working in a 24-hour direct care program with children in the program. Leads will ensure Residential Care Specialists uphold the standards of a therapeutic milieu, including ensuring a non-punitive approach when working with clients. Coordinates activities that are developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed. This position works alongside Program Supervisor to ensure adequate coverage of all shifts and helps provide staff supervision to direct reports. Responsible for briefing and debriefing staff members as they come on or off their shift. Ensures appropriate supervision of clients is being provided by the staff. Supports the implementation of effective crisis co-regulation strategies that minimize the usage of physical restraints. May be expected to participate in Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings, as needed.  Works with Program Supervisors to create an inspiring team environment with open communication. Flexibility in job schedule to accommodate needs of the cottage.

Education Requirements – Residential Care Specialists: The entry-level positions requires a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of two years of population specific experience working with clients with emotional difficulties.  An Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field with a minimum of two years of population specific experience working with clients with emotional difficulties preferred. Four-year degree in Human Service or related field with a minimum of two years of population specific experience working with clients emotional difficulties ideal for this position.  Must have the ability to respond effectively within and cope with an environment that can be extremely stressful on the mind and body.

Education Requirements – Lead Residential Care Specialists: This position requires a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of four years of population specific experience working with clients with emotional difficulties.  An Associate Degree in Human Services or related field with a minimum of two years of population specific experience working with clients with emotional difficulties preferred. Physical Requirements: Will frequently perform a wide variety of physical tasks such as standing, walking, running, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, which requires strength, coordination, endurance, and agility.  Staff must be agile enough to control and rapidly extricate him/herself and youths from buildings in case of an emergency. Persons with any medical problems such as joint problems, obesity, arthritis or cardiopulmonary conditions, where it would be unwise or not possible to engage in moderate physical exertion should not be considered.

The Youth Partner must be committed to forming relationships with the youth or young adults they work with and capable of being patient, culturally aware, and respectful. This person must be willing to complete NC Your Move Leadership Series and the National Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Support curriculum as well as Vroon VDB Coaching and Training credentialing in the first year of employment.

Education Requirement: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and four years of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth or an Associate’s Degree in a human service or related field (or actively pursuing) and one year of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth. Bachelor’s Degree in human services or related field preferred. Life experience as a beneficiary of mental health or substance abuse services can be in lieu of work experience. Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has openings for the Residential Care Specialist positions in a new psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF) being opened. The ideal candidate is able to exhibit a positive, upbeat attitude to encourage youth interaction and understands the cultural diversity of youths, their families and team members. This position teaches and models healthy and safe relationships.

This program provides 24-hour direct care to adolescent girls ages 12 – 17 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each youth. Significant events and behavior shall be documented and communicated in daily process notes. This position plans, provides and supervises the daily activities of the youths in the program to build self-esteem and appropriate peer interaction for each youth. This position is responsible for building a safe and positive relationship with each youth using basic principles of reality therapy without punitive approaches while providing engaging, nurturing structure. This individual must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the youth and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. Education Requirements: The entry-level positions requires a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of two years of population specific experience working with clients with emotional difficulties.  An Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field with a minimum of two years of population specific experience working with clients with emotional difficulties preferred. Four-year degree in Human Service or related field with a minimum of two years of population specific experience working with clients emotional difficulties ideal for this position.  Must have the ability to respond effectively within and cope with an environment that can be extremely stressful on the mind and body.

This program provides 24-hour direct care to adolescent girls ages 12 – 17 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each youth. Duties will include medication administration oversight, medical file record keeping, and responding to client medical needs. The RN is responsible for working directly with the psychiatrist to provide professional nursing care.

Duties Include:
• Obtains and records client’s vital signs, height, weight, AIMS testing, and general health status.
• Coordinates with direct care staff regarding off-campus medical appointments to ensure that the clients are transported to the appointments and required documentation is sent with and returned by the direct care staff.
• Performs triage, First Aid, and CPR as necessary for client illness, injuries, or emergencies.
• Assists with admission and discharge of clients as needed.
• Administers medications to clients. Maintains appropriate documentation including MAR, medication side effects or adverse reactions, effects of prn medications, and any nursing interventions provided to clients.
• Able to assist staff with therapeutic holds as needed based on TCI training. Completes post assessment and paperwork.
• Assists with Self-Harm Watch orders.
• Maintains Medication Disposal Records for discontinued or expired medications.
• Assists with maintaining client Medicaid and/or insurance information to insure proper payment. Coordinates the appropriate paperwork, insurance information and instructions to guarantee payment for medical services.

Education Requirements: A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Must have a current NC RN license or multistate RN license and actively working towards becoming a NC licensed RN and be in good standing with the licensing board. Pediatric and/or psychiatric nursing experience preferred. Staff need to be available to work flexible 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm and 6pm-6am) and weekends as needed. For PRN/Part-Time Registered Nurse position – must be able to work at least one shift a month and one holiday per calendar year. Main Job Duties Include:
•  Researches cash receipts for proper coding and posting through historical research as well as communications with information and revenue management department and grants department
•  Maintain deposit records spreadsheet
•  Assist with the month end process, distributing monthly general ledgers and financial statements, conducting research and providing correction journal entries for account discrepancies to the Sr GL Accountant for posting to the general ledger
•  Perform general ledger account and bank statement reconciliations

Foster Care Coordinator – Wendover Campus – Charlotte, NC

This position provides support, intervention and coordination of comprehensive services to foster children and foster families in accordance with licensing requirements, program standards and Thompson policies. Responsible for developing and coordinating weekly and monthly visits, progress reports, case plans, quarterly reports and six-month reviews. Responsible for once a month weekend on-call. Transitional Live Coach – Wendover Campus – Charlotte, NC

Thompson is looking for an exceptional, passionate, dedicated human services professional to help change the lives of young adults in our community. Thompson is launching a new program which will support young adults ages 16-21 as they transition to adulthood. These transitional living “coaches” will work with a caseload of eight young adults, most of whom are transitioning out of the foster care or juvenile justice systems. The coach will support each youth in achieving their individualized goals which will support a successful transition to adulthood. Expected outcomes from this program will be young adults maintaining stable housing, engaging in productive work or educational activities, remaining free from legal involvement and becoming self-sufficient. Coaches will work in the home and community, meeting these youth where they work, live and spend their time. Building strong, trusting therapeutic relationships will be a critical skill for all Thompson coaches.

This person will also:
• Provide transitional living services 24/7/365 in the home, community, workplace, school, etc.
• Provides direct skill building regarding life skills, vocational skills, budgeting, decision making, job interviewing, communication skills, etc.
• Develop and monitor the client’s person-centered plan.
• Develops and oversees (when applicable) an effective Child & Family Team, utilizing natural and professional supports and working with parent/guardians as partners in care.
• Facilitates monthly Child & Family Team meetings.
• Completes all service documentation and return for appropriate billing and filing in client records/files.
• Develops strong working relationships with key stakeholders such as DJJ, YFS, and community employers.
• Conducts Casey Life Skills interviews to establish baseline and measure progress.

Required Education: Staff must have a High School diploma or GED and have a minimum of two years of experience working with young adults with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) or a combination of work experience and education with one year of education substituting for one year of experience. Position requires staff to be at least 21 years of age by their start date. For consideration, applicants must be 21 years of age to work in this program. Bachelors Degree in Human Services or related field or Masters degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Experience working with Person Centered Plans, Medicaid services and authorizations strongly preferred.
