Community & Corporate Engagement Manager:  St. Peter’s Ln. Campus – Matthews, NC

The Community & Corporate Engagement Manager is responsible for engaging the community to further the mission of Thompson by maintaining a quality agency volunteer program, identifying new corporate partners, raising $150,000 – $200,0000 in corporate sponsorship dollars and providing logistical support for agency events.

Community & Corporate Relations:

  • Inform and educate individuals, churches, corporations and civic groups about Thompson through ongoing speaking engagements, tours, meetings and presentations
  • Identify, research, cultivate and secure partnerships and sponsorship dollars with corporations whose philanthropic mission aligns with the needs and opportunities that Thompson can provide
  • Serve as agency representative in various community civic groups as determined with Chief Development Officer
  • Conduct and/or oversee scheduling of tours with individuals and groups with regularity

Volunteer & In-Kind Donations:

  • Recruit, screen, coordinate, and cultivate individual and group volunteers including: acting as main point of contact for all volunteer related activities, providing appropriate training and placement after screening/background check completion, and working with program leaders to ensure opportunities add value
  • Track volunteer hours, data entry, and quarterly reports; updating volunteer handbook; create volunteer policies and procedures as needed; and manage annual volunteer evaluations for agency accreditors
  • In partnership with program leaders, field and manage in-kind donations

Event Coordination:

  • Manage logistics for events as determined by Chief Development Officer including but not limited to: annual fundraising luncheon, donor cultivation related events, & corporate cultivation related events
  • Solicit and secure corporate sponsors and table captains for annual fundraising luncheon
  • Coordinate annual volunteer appreciation activities/events

This position requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree and 2-4 years non-profit development experience including direct gift solicitation and donor stewardship OR comparable sales related experience. Community relations and/or volunteer management experience helpful. Available for evening and weekend hours as needed. Ability to speak in front of groups of all types and size on behalf of Thompson. Excellent organizational and communication skills. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing in a clear, persuasive, and effective manner. Ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision. Good analytical skills and an above average computer knowledge.

Revenue Management Specialist:  St. Peter’s Ln. Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson Child & Family Focus, located in the Charlotte-Matthews area, seeks a highly skilled individual to:

  • Strategize and implement ideas on increasing cash and reducing bad debt
  • Analyze payer issues and resolve outstanding Accounts Receivable to increase cash collections
  • Build relationships with third party payers and follow up with them as needed on issues including denied and un-responded claims to ensure maximum reimbursement for services
    Send out monthly client statements
  • Complete adjustments to client accounts while providing necessary back-up information in order to maintain accuracy

PRTF Residential Care Specialist – FT & Part-Time: St. Peter’s Lane Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has openings for the Residential Care Specialist position in our PRTF (Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility). The ideal candidate is able to exhibit a positive, upbeat attitude to encourage youth interaction and understands the cultural diversity of youths, their families and team members. This position teaches and models healthy and safe relationships.

This program provides 24-hour direct care to youths ages 6 – 17 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each youth. Significant events and behavior shall be documented and communicated in daily process notes. This position plans, provides and supervises the daily activities of the youths in the program to build self-esteem and appropriate peer interaction for each youth. This position is responsible for building a safe and positive relationship with each youth using basic principles of reality therapy without punitive approaches while providing engaging, nurturing structure. This individual must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the youth and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place.

Individuals in this program work with adolescents ages 12 – 17 in a short-term residential program. This person must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the adolescents and their collaterals to gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. This position is responsible for teaching and modeling independent living skills as it relates to the adolescent population and for teaching and modeling healthy and safe relationships. Registered Nurse: St. Peter’s Lane Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has an opening for a Registered Nurse in our psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF). The ideal candidate is able to exhibit a positive, upbeat attitude to encourage youth interaction and understands the cultural diversity of youths, their families and team members. This position works 6pm – 6am.

This program provides 24-hour direct care to youths ages 6 – 17 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each youth. Duties will include medication administration oversight, medical file record keeping, and responding to client medical needs. The RN is responsible for working directly with the psychiatrist to provide professional nursing care.

Duties Include:

  • Obtains and records client’s vital signs, height, weight, AIMS testing, and general health status.
  • Coordinates with direct care staff regarding off-campus medical appointments to ensure that the clients are transported to the appointments and required documentation is sent with and returned by the direct care staff.
  • Performs triage, First Aid, and CPR as necessary for client illness, injuries, or emergencies.
  • Assists with admission and discharge of clients as needed.
  • Administers medications to clients. Maintains appropriate documentation including MAR, medication side effects or adverse reactions, effects of prn medications, and any nursing interventions provided to clients.
  • Able to assist staff with therapeutic holds as needed based on TCI training. Completes post assessment and paperwork.
  • Assists with Self-Harm Watch orders.
  • Maintains Medication Disposal Records for discontinued or expired medications.
  • Assists with maintaining client Medicaid and/or insurance information to insure proper payment. Coordinates the appropriate paperwork, insurance information and instructions to guarantee payment for medical services.

Education Requirements: A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Must have a current NC RN license or multistate RN license and actively working towards becoming a NC licensed RN and be in good standing with the licensing board. Pediatric and/or psychiatric nursing experience preferred. Staff need to be available to work flexible 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm and 6pm-6am) and weekends as needed. For PRN/Part-Time Registered Nurse position – must be able to work at least one shift a month and one holiday per calendar year.

Youth Partner – Thompson Connect: St. Peter’s Lane Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has an opening for a Youth Partner in our short-term residential program working with adolescents ages 12-17.  The Youth Partner is someone who understands youths in the program and can support them in their recovery process to achieve positive outcomes. The Youth Partner adds value to the multidisciplinary team in several ways. Because Youth Partners have experienced similar challenges, they can often engage and communicate with youths at levels family members or professionals may not be able to. They understand the lifestyles and culture of the youths they work with and they understand how it feels to live with behavioral health challenges. The Youth Partner works within the System of Care values and principles.

This position will:

  • Provide education and assistance in navigating child welfare, education, behavioral/mental health, juvenile justice, school, primary care, etc.
  • Assist the youth to understand and express their needs, goals and decisions.
  • Role model effective behavior for the client to show a pattern of having healthy relationships with others; showing positive and healthy responses to stress and conflict and demonstrating positive social skills.
  • Help the youths learn self-advocacy skills to articulate talents and strengths and get involved in positive activities where they can succeed.
  • Promote and strengthen healthy relationships that will help support and develop the youth’s social skills and a social environment.
  • Assist the youths in navigating uncomfortable environments, new situations and/or unfamiliar people.
  • Provide Child & Family Team members with information regarding service providers in order to facilitate informed provider choice.
  • Maintain client records that provide a clear picture of services provided and referrals made.

Qualifications include: The Youth Partner understands the lifestyles and culture of the youths they work with. They understand how it feels to live with behavioral health challenges and have the experience to guide clients through those challenges. High school diploma or GED and a minimum of four years of experience working with adolescents or an Associate’s Degree in Human Services or related field with one year of experience working with adolescents required. Life experience can be in lieu of work experience. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Position requires staff to be at least 23 years of age to work in this program.

Accounting Associate – St. Peter’s Ln Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson has an immediate open for an Accounting Associate in our Finance Department. This position will primarily be responsible for accounts receivable and general accounting support.

Main Job Duties Include:

  • Researches cash receipts for proper coding and posting through historical research as well as communications with information and revenue management department and grants department
  • Maintain deposit records spreadsheet
  • Assist with the month end process, distributing monthly general ledgers and financial statements, conducting research and providing correction journal entries for account discrepancies to the Sr GL Accountant for posting to the general ledger
  • Perform general ledger account and bank statement reconciliations
  • Prepare accrual and closing journal entries
  • Maintain fixed asset system, which includes preparation of journal entries, reconciliation of general ledger to fixed assets system and preparation of depreciation schedules for budgeting and financial reporting purposes
  • Assist with the internal and external audit functions as directed
  • Assist with grant applications and expenditures reporting
  • Assist A/P with accurate input of accounts payable information and process
  • Organizes and maintains retention files as needed

Foster Care Coordinator – Wendover Campus – Charlotte, NC

Thompson Child & Family Focus is looking to fill a Foster Care Coordinator position to work with families in the greater Charlotte, NC area and surrounding counties. This position provides support, intervention and coordination of comprehensive services to foster children and foster families in accordance with licensing requirements, program standards and Thompson policies. Responsible for developing and coordinating weekly and monthly visits, progress reports, case plans, quarterly reports and six-month reviews. Responsible for once a month weekend on-call. Juvenile Justice Therapist – Wendover Campus – Charlotte, NC

Thompson is seeking a full-time therapist to lead a program specifically geared to serving the Juvenile Justice population in Mecklenburg County. The ideal candidate should have experience working with at-risk youth difficult to engage families and multidisciplinary teams (YFS, DJJ, CMS, etc.). This is a full-time, benefit eligible position that will start on July 1st. Responsibilities include providing individual and family therapy to a small caseload of juveniles and their families. Therapy will take place largely in the home or community setting. In addition, the therapist will serve as the face of the program often communicating and collaborating with court personnel. Additionally, the therapist will supervise and support a full time case manager who will assist with linking, referring and coordinating care for the youth and family. This is an ideal position for therapists or social workers interested in juvenile justice, court systems and leadership opportunities.

PRTF Program Supervisor – St. Peter’s Ln Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson Child & Family Focus, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has an opening for the Program Supervisor position in a residential treatment program. The Program Supervisor shall oversee the daily operations of the residential attachment program, cottage activities and care of clients. Supervisor shall assist in coordination of care, staffing patterns, budgets, and environments that support the treatment philosophy. Duties include supervising Residential Care Specialists and shift leaders, as well as working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide the best care possible for the children and families in the program.

This program provides 24 hour direct care to children ages 6 – 14 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each client. The program staff plan, provide and supervise the daily activities of the clients to build self-esteem and appropriate peer interaction for each child. This program is responsible for building a safe and positive environment for each child using basic principles of reality therapy without punitive approaches while providing engaging, nurturing structure. This individual must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the child and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place.

Physical Requirements: Will frequently perform a wide variety of physical tasks such as standing, walking, running, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, which requires strength, coordination, endurance, and agility. Staff must be agile enough to control and rapidly extricate him/herself and youths from buildings in case of an emergency. This program does require staff to be able to maintain sufficient physical agility and stamina to intervene with uncooperative youths and must be able to exert the minimum necessary strength to restrain and subdue the youth if necessary. Staff must be capable of running a distance as required in the prevention of a youth absconding. Persons with any medical problems such as joint problems, obesity, arthritis or cardiopulmonary conditions, where it would be unwise or not possible to engage in moderate physical exertion should not be considered.

Education Requirements: Master’s Degree in a Human Services field with a minimum of two years of experience working with adolescent males, or Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of four years supervisory experience and two years of experience working with population specific youths. Additionally, candidates must have the ability to work 2nd shift and weekends. Only Qualified Professionals will be considered.

Position requires driving agency vehicle as well as transporting clients. A valid driver’s license in the state of your residence, at least 3 years of driving with a driver’s license and clean driving record are required. All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test and an extensive background check is required. No calls please.

Connect Program Supervisor – St. Peter’s Ln Campus – Matthews, NC

Individuals in this program work with adolescent clients ages 12 – 17 in a short-term residential treatment program. This program will provide guidance, support and mentoring to adolescent clients including assisting with transitional living skills and daily functioning. This person must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the adolescents and their collaterals to gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. This position is responsible for teaching and modeling independent living skills as it relates to the adolescent population and for teaching and modeling healthy and safe relationships.
