Facilitator – NC Wraparound:  Wendover Road Campus – Charlotte, NC

Thompson is seeking a highly skilled professional to join our growing High-Fidelity Wraparound team.

The NC Wraparound Facilitator will engage high-needs youth and their families in developing, implementing, and monitoring an intensive, individualized care plan. This includes helping the team develop a natural support system, working on the development on an integrated plan and establishing a strong relationship with the family. The Facilitator is responsible for safeguarding the principles and steps of the High Fidelity Wraparound (HFW) process, and ensuring that the process is delivered with the fidelity to the model. The Facilitator will help the family develop a positive view of the future through various Wraparound activities and interventions.

This is an excellent position for non-licensed staff with a history and passion for case management who want to develop their leadership skills while providing a nationally recognized evidence based practice.

Revenue Management Specialist:  St. Peter’s Ln. Campus – Matthews, NC

• Strategize and implement ideas on increasing cash and reducing bad debt
• Analyze payer issues and resolve outstanding Accounts Receivable to increase cash collections
• Build relationships with third party payers and follow up with them as needed on issues including denied and un-responded claims to ensure maximum reimbursement for services
• Send out monthly client statements
• Complete adjustments to client accounts while providing necessary back-up information in order to maintain accuracy
• Responsible for out-patient program billing
• Support all billing functions in times of high capacity billing

Position Details:

  • Gathers data on performance metrics to facilitate the review of program and support department effectiveness.
  • Oversees the development and maintenance of all evaluation and reporting for clinical programs, prevention programs, and administrative departments.

High Fidelity Wraparound Coach:  Wendover Ln. Campus – Charlotte, NC

Thompson is seeking dedicated, strengths and solution-focused human services professional to help lead a team which will impact the lives of youth and families in our community through the High Fidelity Wraparound Program. High Fidelity Wraparound is an evidence based model for youth and families who are experience high levels of challenges in the following areas: behavioral, emotional, socioeconomic, housing, family conflict, etc. High Fidelity Wraparound uses a strengths-based, team approach to intervene with families and embodies the System of Care philosophy in our approach to families. This is a community based service where we meet the families wherever and whenever it has to happen.

As the Wraparound Coach, this position requires high level leadership, integrity, ability to cast and execute a vision and the skill set to develop other professionals around you to become their very best. This position would be the face of Wraparound services at Thompson and therefore this person would be responsible for recruiting, marketing, and passionately educating the community on the benefits of the service. A primary trait will be knowing how to positively collaborate and cultivate effective team work internally, externally with stakeholders and with the families you serve. As the Wraparound coach, this position will supervise a team up to 8 staff; meeting weekly/monthly and as needed to ensure successful implementation and rendering of this service. Leadership and supervisory experience is critical to the functions of this position.

Other Duties Include:
• Oversees program administration, including adherence to contract scope of services requirements.
• Assists in preparation and adherence to program budget.
• Responsible for helping the NC Wraparound Team understand the topics of training and developing an understanding of how to apply what they have learned through the activities and discussions of the curriculum. This includes behavioral rehearsal so the NC Wraparound Team can practice HFW before doing it with youth and families.
• Supports learning for the NC Wraparound Team, works to complete observations of the NC Wraparound Team’s performance, and documents these observations to support continuous improvement of the NC Wraparound Team dynamics.
• Oversees new intakes, referrals and admissions through active relationship building with referral sources and pushing the urgency of census at all times.
• Facilitates trainings and in-services as necessary to ensure quality of care.

Education Requirements: Master’s degree in a human service related field, at least two years of supervisory experience, and a minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and families with complex needs required. Must be credentialed as a Qualified Health Professional. LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or other licensure preferred. Must be able to work flexible schedule to meet the needs of the team. Residential Care Specialist – FT & Part-Time: St. Peter’s Lane Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has openings for the Residential Care Specialist positions in two different residential programs. The ideal candidate is able to exhibit a positive, upbeat attitude to encourage youth interaction and understands the cultural diversity of youths, their families and team members. This position teaches and models healthy and safe relationships.

PRTF (Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility): This program provides 24-hour direct care to youths ages 6 – 13 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each youth. Significant events and behavior shall be documented and communicated in daily process notes. This position plans, provides and supervises the daily activities of the youths in the program to build self-esteem and appropriate peer interaction for each youth. This position is responsible for building a safe and positive relationship with each youth using basic principles of reality therapy without punitive approaches while providing engaging, nurturing structure. This individual must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the youth and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. This program does require staff to be able to maintain sufficient physical agility and stamina to intervene with uncooperative youths and must be able to exert the minimum necessary strength to restrain and subdue the youth if necessary.  Staff must be capable of running a distance as required in the prevention of a youth absconding.  For consideration, applicants must be 18 years of age to work in this program.

Thompson Connect: Individuals in this program work with adolescents ages 12 – 17 in a short-term residential program. This position will provide guidance, support and mentoring to adolescent youths including assisting with transitional living skills and daily functioning.  This person must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the adolescents and their collaterals to gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. This position is responsible for teaching and modeling independent living skills as it relates to the adolescent population and for teaching and modeling healthy and safe relationships. For consideration, applicants must be 23 years of age to work in this program.

Positions Available:

  • Residential Care Specialist – Position works in the milieu daily as outlined in the program descriptions above.
  • Part-Time Residential Care Specialist – Position works in the milieu as outlined in the program descriptions above on an as needed basis to help cover ratio needs.
  • Lead Residential Care Specialist – In addition to the tasks mentioned in the program outlines above, Leads shall assist the Program Supervisor in the overseeing of the daily operations of the program, cottage activities and care of clients.  This position will also assist in coordination of care, staffing patterns, and environments that support the treatment philosophy. This position provides support to staff while working in a 24-hour direct care program with children in the program. Leads will ensure Residential Care Specialists uphold the standards of a therapeutic milieu, including ensuring a non-punitive approach when working with clients. Coordinates activities that are developmentally appropriate and trauma-informed. This position works alongside Program Supervisor to ensure adequate coverage of all shifts and helps provide staff supervision to direct reports. Responsible for briefing and debriefing staff members as they come on or off their shift. Ensures appropriate supervision of clients is being provided by the staff. Supports the implementation of effective crisis co-regulation strategies that minimize the usage of physical restraints. May be expected to participate in Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings, as needed.  Works with Program Supervisors to create an inspiring team environment with open communication. Flexibility in job schedule to accommodate needs of the cottage.

Four-year degree in Human Service or related field with a minimum of two years of population specific experience working with clients emotional difficulties ideal for this position.  Must have the ability to respond effectively within and cope with an environment that can be extremely stressful on the mind and body.

Education Requirements – Lead Residential Care Specialists: This position requires a high school diploma or GED with a minimum of four years of population specific experience working with clients with emotional difficulties.  An Associate Degree in Human Services or related field with a minimum of two years of population specific experience working with clients with emotional difficulties preferred. Physical Requirements: Will frequently perform a wide variety of physical tasks such as standing, walking, running, stooping, bending, climbing stairs, which requires strength, coordination, endurance, and agility.  Staff must be agile enough to control and rapidly extricate him/herself and youths from buildings in case of an emergency. Persons with any medical problems such as joint problems, obesity, arthritis or cardiopulmonary conditions, where it would be unwise or not possible to engage in moderate physical exertion should not be considered.

The Youth Partner must be committed to forming relationships with the youth or young adults they work with and capable of being patient, culturally aware, and respectful. This person must be willing to complete NC Your Move Leadership Series and the National Peer-to-Peer (P2P) Support curriculum as well as Vroon VDB Coaching and Training credentialing in the first year of employment.

Education Requirement: A minimum of a high school diploma or GED and four years of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth or an Associate’s Degree in a human service or related field (or actively pursuing) and one year of experience working with children/adolescents/transition age youth. Foster Care Coordinator – Charlotte: Wendover Campus – Charlotte, NC

This position provides support, intervention and coordination of comprehensive services to foster children and foster families in accordance with licensing requirements, program standards and Thompson policies. Intensive In-Home Lead Therapist:  Wendover Campus – Charlotte, NC

Thompson is looking for a Licensed or Provisionally Licensed professional to help change the lives of youth and families in our community as an Intensive In-Home (IIH) Team Lead. The IIH Team Lead works as the leader of a 3-person team to provide direct and indirect intensive in-home services. Position requires 24/7 coverage, on a rotating basis.

The IIH Lead will be responsible for: documentation, supporting other team members, supervision of team member’s interventions, intervening in crisis situations; providing self-help, living skills and parenting skills training to help the family; as well as provide assistance with the implementation of home-based behavioral supports. The position requires someone who is passionate, a self-starter, assertive, disciplined, ethical and a great team player. Thompson Child & Family Focus seeks a Grant Specialist – an individual experienced in the work of preparing grant budgets and fiscal reporting for grant funded programs.  The successful candidate will work with a positive attitude, be solution-focused, meet tight deadlines within a fast-paced work environment, be a team player who believes in working smarter not harder, all while having an eagle eye for detail.

The key priorities of the Grant Specialist include: formulating and justifying budgets for proposals; preparing monthly department/project specific general ledgers from financial software (Blackbaud); preparing financial status reports for reimbursements, applications and grant closures; and, ensuring proposals and progress fiscal reports comply with guidelines and regulations for external funding agencies.

This position performs a variety of duties to support the life cycle of grant-funded program projects. These duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitor expenditures and analyze the burn-rate on funded projects
  • Conduct budget meetings to gather financial data and to discuss project needs
  • Comply with agency guidelines as well as funder’s guidelines
  • Document cost allocations and maintain fiscal standards of work for compliance standards for each project

The ideal candidate is able to exhibit a positive, upbeat attitude to encourage youth interaction and understands the cultural diversity of youths, their families and team members.  This program provides 24-hour direct care to adolescent girls ages 12 – 17 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment.

This position will provide overall implementation of the clinical components of the program. Responsibilities include individual, family, and group counseling, working with direct care staff and outside resources for treatment planning, child and family team meetings, and judicial reviews. The ideal candidate should be very comfortable with trauma-informed care so as to use it effectively with clients, as well as intervene and coach direct care staff and the families of clients.

Other duties include:

  • Appropriately intervenes to meet the needs of our clients and their families and to help our clients and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems and prepare for discharge and return to the school, home and community setting of origin.
  • Attends workshops and seminars for the continued education and development of the direct care staff and provides clinical consultation to direct care staff as needed or requested by Program Supervisor, Residential Director or administrative personnel.
  • Evaluates the progress of client’s therapeutic treatment goals.
  • Participates in discussions regarding the on-going treatment of clients and/or families in order to provide input and direction with Program Supervisor and other staff working with the clients and families.
  • Assists in admission of new clients into the treatment program with accompanying paperwork.
  • Provides initial assessment with full diagnosis and recommendations in psychosocial assessment when appropriate.
  • Ensure that all necessary therapeutic materials are available to support the intervention methods and philosophy of care.
  • Maintains appropriate documentation including therapy notes of all sessions including individual, group and family sessions, preparing reports for progress summaries, discharge reports, and court reports when needed.
  • Updates and submits documentation for the re-authorization of care via appropriate utilization review of documentation according to established schedule.
  • Maintains a flexible schedule (to include evenings and weekends when appropriate) to meet the needs of clients and families.

Education Requirements: A Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy or related field required. Provisional licensure as a LPCA, LCSWA, LMFTA or related license is required, full licensure preferred. If not currently licensed, must provide documentation of licensure application to be considered for this position.  Four years of experience working with children and/or families in a mental health or residential treatment setting are preferred. Duties will include medication administration oversight, medical file record keeping, and responding to client medical needs. The RN is responsible for working directly with the psychiatrist to provide professional nursing care.

Duties Include:
• Obtains and records client’s vital signs, height, weight, AIMS testing, and general health status.
• Coordinates with direct care staff regarding off-campus medical appointments to ensure that the clients are transported to the appointments and required documentation is sent with and returned by the direct care staff.
• Performs triage, First Aid, and CPR as necessary for client illness, injuries, or emergencies.
• Assists with admission and discharge of clients as needed.
• Administers medications to clients. Maintains appropriate documentation including MAR, medication side effects or adverse reactions, effects of prn medications, and any nursing interventions provided to clients.
• Able to assist staff with therapeutic holds as needed based on TCI training. Completes post assessment and paperwork.
• Assists with Self-Harm Watch orders.
• Maintains Medication Disposal Records for discontinued or expired medications.
• Assists with maintaining client Medicaid and/or insurance information to insure proper payment. Coordinates the appropriate paperwork, insurance information and instructions to guarantee payment for medical services.

Education Requirements: A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Must have a current NC RN license or multistate RN license and actively working towards becoming a NC licensed RN and be in good standing with the licensing board. Pediatric and/or psychiatric nursing experience preferred. Staff need to be available to work flexible 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm and 6pm-6am) and weekends as needed. Transitional Living RISE Coach – Wendover Road Campus – Charlotte, NC

Thompson is looking for an exceptional, passionate, dedicated human services professional to help change the lives of young adults in our community. Thompson is launching a new program which will support young adults ages 16-21 as they transition to adulthood. These transitional living “coaches” will work with a caseload of eight young adults, most of whom are transitioning out of the foster care or juvenile justice systems. The coach will support each youth in achieving their individualized goals which will support a successful transition to adulthood. Expected outcomes from this program will be young adults maintaining stable housing, engaging in productive work or educational activities, remaining free from legal involvement and becoming self-sufficient. Coaches will work in the home and community, meeting these youth where they work, live and spend their time. Building strong, trusting therapeutic relationships will be a critical skill for all Thompson coaches.

• Develops and oversees (when applicable) an effective Child & Family Team, utilizing natural and professional supports and working with parent/guardians as partners in care.
• Facilitates monthly Child & Family Team meetings.
• Completes all service documentation and return for appropriate billing and filing in client records/files.
• Develops strong working relationships with key stakeholders such as DJJ, YFS, and community employers.
• Conducts Casey Life Skills interviews to establish baseline and measure progress.

Required Education: Staff must have a High School diploma or GED and have a minimum of two years of experience working with young adults with Serious Emotional Disturbance (SED) or a combination of work experience and education with one year of education substituting for one year of experience. Position requires staff to be at least 21 years of age by their start date.  For consideration, applicants must be 21 years of age to work in this program. Bachelors Degree in Human Services or related field or Masters degree in Human Services or related field preferred. Experience working with Person Centered Plans, Medicaid services and authorizations strongly preferred.

A valid NC driver’s license, at least three years of driving with a driver’s license and clean driving record are required. All potential job candidates must pass a drug screening test, Diana Screening and an extensive background check.

Intensive In-Home Specialist – Wendover Road Campus – Charlotte, NC

Thompson is looking for a Qualified Mental Health professional to help change the lives of youth and families in our community as an Intensive In-Home (IIH) Specialist. The IIH Specialist works as a member of a 3-person team, led by a licensed or provisionally licensed clinician, to provide direct and indirect intensive in-home services. Position requires 24/7 coverage, on a rotating basis. The IIH Specialist will be responsible for: intervening in crisis situations; providing self-help, living skills and parenting skills training to help the family; as well as provide assistance with the implementation of home-based behavioral supports. The QP will work under the clinical direction of the Intensive In-Home Lead Therapist. The position requires someone who is passionate, a self-starter, assertive, disciplined, ethical and a great team player.

Minimum of one year of experience working with children and families is required. Qualified candidates must meet the required mental health credentialing standards in order to be considered for the position: Bachelor’s degree in a human service related field + 2 years of post-bachelor’s population specific experience; OR Bachelor’s degree in a non-human services related field + 4 years of post-Bachelor’s population specific experience; OR Master’s degree in a human service related field + 1 year of post-graduate population specific experience.
