Education Manager:  St. Peter’s Ln. Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson is seeking an experienced Exceptional Children’s Teacher to serve as Education Manager. The Education Manager should be motivated, flexible, and have the ability to work in diverse teams. The Education Manager will be responsible for developing, completing and maintaining a caseload of Individual Education Plans. The Education Manager will be working with youth between the ages of 6-17 years of age that have mental health diagnosis as well as display emotional and behavioral difficulties. This position also supervises the PRTF teaching staff and the expressive arts manager.

PRTF Residential Care Specialist – FT & PT:  St. Peter’s Ln. Campus – Matthews, NC

This position teaches and models healthy and safe relationships.

This program provides 24-hour direct care to youths ages 6 – 17 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each youth. Significant events and behavior shall be documented and communicated in daily process notes. This position plans, provides and supervises the daily activities of the youths in the program to build self-esteem and appropriate peer interaction for each youth. This position is responsible for building a safe and positive relationship with each youth using basic principles of reality therapy without punitive approaches while providing engaging, nurturing structure. This individual must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the youth and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place.

Registered Nurse: St. Peter’s Lane Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson, located in the Charlotte/Matthews area, has an opening for a Registered Nurse in our psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF). This position works 6pm – 6am.

This program provides 24-hour direct care to youths ages 6 – 17 in the residential treatment program by providing a safe therapeutic home setting in a positive, consistent and structured environment. This includes mental health support and documentation based on service goals and plans for each youth. Duties will include medication administration oversight, medical file record keeping, and responding to client medical needs. The RN is responsible for working directly with the psychiatrist to provide professional nursing care.

Duties Include:

  • Obtains and records client’s vital signs, height, weight, AIMS testing, and general health status.
  • Coordinates with direct care staff regarding off-campus medical appointments to ensure that the clients are transported to the appointments and required documentation is sent with and returned by the direct care staff.
  • Performs triage, First Aid, and CPR as necessary for client illness, injuries, or emergencies.
  • Assists with admission and discharge of clients as needed.
  • Administers medications to clients. Maintains appropriate documentation including MAR, medication side effects or adverse reactions, effects of prn medications, and any nursing interventions provided to clients.
  • Able to assist staff with therapeutic holds as needed based on TCI training. Completes post assessment and paperwork.
  • Assists with Self-Harm Watch orders.
  • Maintains Medication Disposal Records for discontinued or expired medications.
  • Assists with maintaining client Medicaid and/or insurance information to insure proper payment. Coordinates the appropriate paperwork, insurance information and instructions to guarantee payment for medical services.

Education Requirements: A minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required. Must have a current NC RN license or multistate RN license and actively working towards becoming a NC licensed RN and be in good standing with the licensing board. Pediatric and/or psychiatric nursing experience preferred. Staff need to be available to work flexible 12-hour shifts (6am-6pm and 6pm-6am) and weekends as needed. For PRN/Part-Time Registered Nurse position – must be able to work at least one shift a month and one holiday per calendar year.

VP, Residential Services: St. Peter’s Ln Campus – Matthews, NC

Thompson is seeking a VP of Residential Services to coordinate the development of the residential service’s vision, philosophy, program and process that enhances the fulfillment of the Thompson Child & Family Focus mission.

This position will be responsible for developing and implementing treatment services for clients in residential care to help them move into less restrictive environments. This position will also assist the Medical Director in the development, improvement and implementation of best practices and appropriate treatment models. The VP of Residential Services will ensure strong department-wide understanding of attachment theory and practice and System of Care philosophy. This person will also maintain close monitoring of required programmatic documentation to ensure accuracy and completion within appropriate timeframes and standards and assures that the programs are meeting and sustaining the Joint Commission Accreditation standards and mental health/Medicaid guidelines.

Other duties include: Overseeing the development and management of program budgets and ensuring that the monthly expenditures stay within the allocated budgeted dollars. Responsible for collaborating with Human Resource to oversee and maintain optimum staffing levels for efficient and successful service delivery associated with the residential treatment program. Responsible for coordinating and maintaining knowledge of required certifications and licenses within the residential treatment talent pool such as: TCI, CPR, and all other professional licenses. Assists in coordination of staff training and development with support from the Medical Director, Quality & Performance and Human Resources teams.

This position supervises the staff that plans, provides and supervises the daily activities of the youths in the program to build self-esteem and appropriate peer interaction for each youth. This position is responsible for building a safe and positive relationship with each youth using basic principles of reality therapy without punitive approaches while providing engaging, nurturing structure. This individual must have the ability to appropriately intervene to meet the needs of the youth and their family members gain the skills and confidence to address issues and problems as they take place. This position will:

  • Works in conjunction with the Medical Director and Vice President of Residential Services in the development, improvement, and implementation of best practices and appropriate treatment models.
  • Assures program is meeting and sustaining accreditation standards, DPI standards and mental health/Medicaid guidelines.
  • Assists with developing and monitoring evaluation process for Treatment Services program including outcome data and tools and CQI process as it relates to residential services.
  • Oversees residential program’s routines to ensure best practices and adherence to relationship-based philosophy.
  • Help manage the personnel, training and Human Resource needs of the residential program staff.
  • Monitor to ensure that all required cottage, clinical, and educational paperwork is completed within appropriate timeframes.
  • Support on-call responsibilities to fill in for Program Supervisors and/or other direct reports when needed.
  • Assist in coordination of training and development with support from the Medical Director and training.
  • Assists with the development of fiscally sound budgets and ensures that monthly expenditures stay within the allocated budgeted dollars.
  • Identifies areas in need of quality improvement and works with or guides appropriate TCFF staff to continuously develop and improve programming and services.
  • Ensures all scorecard measures that have been set are met and a plan to address is put in place and followed through on if needed.
  • Coordinates the use of volunteers within the residential program.

Staff must be capable of running a distance as required in the prevention of a youth absconding.

Master’s Degree in Human Services or related field with a minimum of four years of supervisory experience and six years of experience working with youths in a residential or mental health program. Being a Fully Licensed Clinician is strongly preferred. Additionally, candidates must have the ability to work any shift and weekends. Only Qualified Professionals will be considered.
